Amanda Garcia

With a love for all animals, Amanda grew up here on the Central Coast where she began riding at very a young age. Consistently competitive on the A-Circuit since the age of 13, Amanda decided to take her riding into the professional arena after graduating from high school. It was at this time she began working and training with a top International rider, Harley Brown, and eventually realized she wanted to pursue Show Jumping as a career. To quote the philosophy of another well-known equestrian coach, “There are many good trainers – find a trainer and a program you believe in. Evolving through a program is essential. Even with the greatest talent – you still need to grow through learning the process.” Amanda did just that, and worked under Harley’s tutelage for nearly a decade: at home and on International stages such as the World Cup Finals and Spruce Meadows. Harley took Amanda under his wing and imparted the finer points of assessing individual horses and applying the appropriate training techniques to suit each situation. Along with Harley’s wife Olivia, the three of them implemented a very effective and complete riding program, with natural horsemanship being at the core of its foundation. Amanda carries on that emphasis today in her own successful training business. She places a great deal of importance on the mind and confidence of both horse and rider. She “reads” horses quite well and seems to get the best out of them, which has resulted in some very successful teams under her instruction. With a professional roper as a husband, she has a foundation and understanding in several disciplines, never limiting herself to merely the conventional.
